They feed on any fruits, vegetables, meat etc. They contaminate fooding items, cause asthmatic reactions, their presence cause nuisance. They cause diseases like gastroenteritis, Typhoid fever, Dysentery etc.
German Cockroaches : Normally are found in Kitchens, Food processing units, Restaurants, especially in cracks, crevices etc. They prefer warm & moist environment. Their reproduction rate is high than any other species.
American Cockroaches : They are found in Manholes, Gutters, Severs, Ducts. They enter in home through nani traps; they can climb through drain pipe stohighrise.
Brown banded Cockroaches : They are normally nocturnal in nature but occasional seen in the daytime, they are just like German cockroaches, they are found be neath tables, furniture, shelves, behind wall paper. They are active and have tendency to fly when disturbed.
Oriental Cockroaches : They are found in darken places like basements, cellars, near heating appliances and can tolerate hot & dry locations.
Pest Covers - House Mouse, Roofrats, Norwayrat, Bandicoot. Rodents are very clever mammals. Their breeding rate is also high as one pair can multiply to 800 in a year. They infest, destroy, contaminate more than they feed, because of their continue “GNOWINGACTION”. Rodent cause severe diseases like rat bite fever, Leptospirosis, Plague, Trichinosis, Salmonellosis and also food poisoning.
House Mouse : They are small in size very clever, good climbers and live in homes & social environments.
Roof Rats : They are large in size, their tail is longer than their head + body length, sexual maturity attended in 8 to12 weeks. Body weighs up to 150 -200gms.
Norway Rats : Commonly found in drainage. Their tail is short than their head + body length. They prefer the food containing carbohydrates &proteins. Body weighs up to 400gm.
Bandicoot : Very ferocious looking rodent with long face. It does considerable damage to fields & buildings. Adult weight is between300 to1000gm. Treatment for Rodent Control Sound environmental sanitation is the most effective strategy. Rats required three things food, water & shelter. If these are denied rats will naturally decrease in density. The control measure is divided in two parts 1)Chemical Measure 2)Mechanical Measure.
Chemical Measure : The anti coagulant rodent icides are used. The poison will be mixed in food material & baiting is done. Baiting will be done only for outside compound premises.
Mechanical Measure : Trapping is done by using Scissor Traps, Wonder Traps, Cages & Glue boards. Trapping : The Trapping is done by in specting the runway of rodents & will be done for in side premises; if necessary it will be done for outside premises also.
a. Baiting is done for outside premises.
b. Glue Boards, Wonder Traps, Cages & Scissor Traps are placed to in side premises by inspection the run way of rats
Bed bugs emerge usually at night from hiding places, seeking human blood. While pathogens have been found in bed bugs, the bed bug apparently does not transmit diseases to humans. Bed bugs can survive more than a year without feeding, Most people have never seen a bed bug. Adults are wingless, about one - fourth of an inch long, and flat to fit in cracks and crevices where they hide by day. Females typically lay three to five adhesive eggs per day in crevices and depressions. Eggs and newly hatched nymphs are somewhat translucent and only about one-sixteenth of an inch long. After feeding, nymphs become bright red. At night, bed bugs seek warm hosts, leaving their hiding places in mattresses, box springs, bed frames, nightstands, curtains, couches and wall voids, baseboards, carpet edges, door and window frames, picture frames, smoke detectors, electrical switches and outlets, peeling paint and wallpaper.
Service: Pesticides are applied directly into cracks and crevices harboring bed bugs.
For the majority of bed bug infestations Dusts can be used in areas occupied by electrical equipment and/or wall voids if the bugs are penetrating such areas, whereas liquid formulations can be utilised in more obvious locations. Suitable active ingredients would includedeltamethrin, alphacypermethrin, lambda-cyhalothrin. Aerosol insecticides can be used for 'quick kill'. Products such as synthetic pyrethroids act very effectively to knockdown and kill bedbugs when applied directly to the insect. The insecticide must be directed at all harborages identified in the inspection and applied in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. The carpet and underlay should be peeled back and the wall/floor junction treated. The use of extension nozzles allows the insecticide to be applied accurately to areas such as beading on mattresses and cracks and crevices in furniture. For wall hangings and delicate or antique furniture, aerosols may be more appropriate than other formulations, after vacuuming. When applying liquid formulations, fan spray nozzles should be used along carpet edges and pin stream nozzles for cracks and crevices.
Mosquitoes are responsible for causing so many sever diseases like malaria, dengue, chikunguniya with which world is fighting with great efforts, they are causing more damage to human health day by day and human filling effort less. The world health organization is also trying to control this situation but they also don't get satisfactory output, the patients of malaria, chikun guniya are increasing in large numbers. The anopheles stephensi species of mosquito is responsible for causing the malaria disease. The anopheles Stephensi breeds in stagnant water like water tanks, overhear tanks, rain water collected in tarpaulin, tyers& water wells.
Diseases caused by different species of mosquito-
Anopheles - Malaria,
Culex -Filariasis, Japanese Encephalitis,
Aedes -Chikun Guniya, Dengue
Mosquito Control Treatment :
The treatment is divided in two parts- 1) Larval Management, 2) Adult Management.
Larval Management : The mosquito growth is through 4 instars - egg, larva, pupa & adult. Larval stage is the weakest stage in mosquito life cycle & it is easy to control by spraying the breeding places thoroughly by using suitable Larvicide. The water collected area & all water bodies present at the site are sprayed thoroughly by hand compression spray. The larval stageis completed in 4 to 10 days so it is necessary to treat the water bodies on weekly interval.
Post-Construction
Termites also known as white ants; lives in colonies consists of Queen, King, Few Soldiers & large number of workers. Queen controls the colony through chemical stimulus, she can lay more than 10,000 eggs in a week. King supports queen in reproduction. Both king & queen live in anti chamber. Soldiers protect the colony & workers collect the food & feed the colony. Muddy channels & colony structure repairing is done by workers. They are blind & work for 24 hours. The infestations caused by the termites are huge like storm, cyclone, fire, flood etc. They can damage any structure in search of material containing cellulose like wood, paper & cloths. If mud tubes are seen in building, wooden structure there will be the problem of termite in that structure. Sometimes infestation will be done to internal structure but we can't detect it, muddy channels are also not seen. The structure gets totally infested & we can't do anything after the damage of structure. So to avoid the undetectable infestation treating the premises against termite is very important.
Post Construction Anti Termite Treatment- (Treatment for ready structure)
The Treatment is done by drilling at wall & floor junction as required, filling the holes with anti termite chemical & sealing the holes with cement. If muddy channels are present, channels are also treated with anti termite chemical.
Anti Termite Treatment - Covers Subterranean Termites
For Inside Premises : The inside premises is drilled with 12mm diameter drill having 6 inch length, the drilling is done to the effective depth of 4 to 5 inches. The drilled holes are filled with anti termite chemical and the holes are sealed with cement. Then the muddy channels made by termite are sprayed to kill the live termite inside the muddy channel and after that the channels are removed and the minute hole from where the termites enters in to the premises are injected with the anti termite chemical.
For Outside premises : The outside wall of the building, columns are drilled with the drill bit having 12 inch length & 12 mm diameter to the depth of 1 ft. If the building is stilt plus, the side corners of the columns are drilled and the holes are filled with anti termite chemical. If the mud tubes are seen, the channels are treated with anti termite chemical and then removed. All stair case, passage area and all other common portion are drilled and filled with anti termite chemical and sealed with cement.
After initial drilling procedure, check-up service is done on quarterly basis.
Pre- Construction Anti Termite Treatment
The principal of the treatment is to create a chemical barrier below and around the building so as to deny entry to the termites into the buildings.
Treatment for without basement Buildings
The treatment will commence after the foundation and the plinth wall construction is completed.
1. Treatment to top surface of plinth filling : After the soil filling is completed in the plinth area and before the dry rubble packing, the entire surface of the filled soil and the top surface of plinth wall/beam shall be treated with the chemical emulsion at 5 litre per sq.m.
2. Treatment at junction of wall and floor : Rodding shall be carried out along the junction of wall and soil filling at 1 mtr. Intervals down up to 30 cm. emulsion shall be sprayed along the wall junction at 1 litre pre linear metre so that it mixes thoroughly with the broken-up soil. The disturbed earth is then tamped back in place.
3. Treatment of soil along external perimeter : The soil around the external perimeter of the building up to a depth of 30 cm shall be treated at 2.25 litres per linear meter of the plinth wall.
4 Treatment of soil surrounding pipes, wastes and conduits: When pipes, wastes and conduits enter the soil inside the area of the foundation, the soil surrounding the point of entry must be loosened around each such pipe, waste or conduit for a distance of 15 cm and upto a depth of 7.5cm and loosened soil shall be treated with chemical emulsion.
